Tory MP is pictured in bed with nude ladies

NO, it's not a headline from the dying dates of the last Conservative Government - there's no scandal here.

But it could be described as one of the perks of the job for Skipton MP David Curry who called in with the world famous nude WI Calendar Girls to see a Skipton success story.

The MP was invited to the Snaygill factory to see the results of a £250,000 investment and given a demonstration of how everything comes together in the bed-making process.

Pocket Spring, part of the Silentnight empire, was sounded in Skipton a little more than 10 years ago, making beds at the very top end of the market. It has gone from strength to strength ever since.

Mr Curry said: "Many people worry about the future of the manufacturing industry in Britain. when you look just that little bit further than the top-line thought, you see innovative companies, such as this one, taking part in some truly interesting work and creating what can only be described as world class products."

Calender Girl Chris Clancy said she was amazed at the amount of work and materials that go into bed-making. "I think we are all going to be going out shopping this weekend to purchase one!" she said.
